DIY Whipped Hydrating Face Cream

I like that this whipped face cream feels luxurious without containing synthetic fragrance, or petroleum based moisturizers. It is rich, simple, and made from ingredients that each offer something beneficial to the skin.

Equipment

  • 2 4 oz. glass jars with lids for storage

Materials

  • 3 Tbsp unrefined shea butter
  • 1 Tbsp cocoa butter
  • 2 tsp lanolin
  • 1 Tbsp jojoba oil
  • 2 tsp rosehip seed oil
  • 2 tsp almond oil
  • 1 tsp vitamin E oil
  • 1 tsp arrowroot powder
  • 5-7 drops essential oils

Instructions

  • Add the shea butter, cocoa butter, and lanolin to glass bowl

  • Heat oils until everything is completely melted

  • Remove glass bowl from saucepan to start cooling
  • Add jojoba oil, rosehip seed oil, almond oil and vitamin E oil
  • Place mixture into fridge for 20-30 mins (or freezer if you need quicker - just keep an eye on it), stirring once or twice until becomes opaque and soft peanut butter texture
  • Remove from fridge/freezer
  • Whip for 5-8 minutes until light, fluffy and creamy with hand mixer

  • Add essential oils and whip additional minute

  • Spoon into clean glass jar with tight fitting lid. You should have enough to almost fill 2 x 4oz. jars.
