Gut Healthy Gummy Candy
You’ve probably come across some beautifully photographed gummy candy posts on social media and thought, as if I have the time to make my own at home… no thanks. I get it! Life is busy, especially with kids, meals, and everything else on your plate.
But I’m here to tell you… you should absolutely try making your own.
These homemade gut healthy gummies are one of my healthier version recipes that look fancy, but are actually incredibly simple. They take just a few minutes to prepare, require only a few ingredients, and once you’ve made them once, they’ll likely become a regular in your kitchen. They’re a super fun, and nourishing alternative to store-bought treats, and your kids will think they’re getting candy, which is always a win in our house.

Why should you make your own gummies?
There are so many reasons to swap the packaged versions for homemade:
- Grass-fed beef gelatin supports gut health, but it also plays a role in healthy skin, strong hair and nails, joint support, and even better sleep. It’s a simple way to add nourishing, functional ingredients into everyday foods your family already loves
- No artificial colouring: food dyes have been linked to behavioural issues and sensitivities in many children
- No artificial flavourings: just real fruit juice for a clean, simple taste
- Naturally sweetened with maple syrup, honey, raw sugar or you can make them completely sugar-free using options like pure stevia
- Perfect for on-the-go snacks, lunchboxes, or a simple after-dinner treat
- Kids absolutely love them (and won’t even question that they’re “healthy”)
- You can fully control the sweetness level based on your family’s preferences
Another bonus? These are a great way to introduce supportive nutrients into your family’s diet without any pushback. If you’ve been trying to prioritize gut health in your home, this is one of the easiest and most enjoyable ways to do it.
What can you use for a gummy mold?
Don’t overthink this part. You don’t need anything fancy to get started.
- Silicone ice cube trays work perfectly
- Mini cupcake tins are a great option and then you can use them for mini muffins as well
- Even a glass dish that you cut into squares after setting will do
If you want that classic gummy bear look, you can always order a silicone gummy bear mold. But truly, the shape doesn’t matter, the benefits (and the taste) are the same.
Simple, Nourishing, and Realistic Treats
This is one of those recipes that fits beautifully into a naturally nourished lifestyle. It’s simple, flexible, and doesn’t require complicated ingredients or equipment. You can make a batch in advance, store them in the fridge, and have a nourishing treat ready whenever you need it.
If you’ve been hesitant to try making your own snacks from scratch, let this be your starting point. It’s quick, approachable, and a small shift that makes a big difference over time.
Once you make them, don’t be surprised if they disappear quickly. You may want to double the batch next time. Or even try and couple different kids of juices so you have multiple colours in your batch!
